Artist Bio
1995 - Computers are too slow, video mixers are too expensive ...
During Videoking's first shows, while studying fine art, he performed under the name "Superbrux" using a hacked Afterdark screen-saver and a desktop computer. Videoking went on to perform at dub and jungle parties in the Hamburg-based Powerhouse and the Old Flora. Using club-culture graphical visuals in the style of the times, videoking set the first standards and his ideas always tested the limits of computational possibilities.
At the end of the 90's there were laptops with enough power for live performances. Videoking developed his style and working method further: real-time video processing and media recycling. Since then he has created events with worlds full of suggestive visual quality.
In 2000 he started working together with John deKron from Berlin and established "Videokonferenz", www.videokonferenz-berlin.de. John and Videoking battle at Moonbootica parties and the "IntensivStation" (Phonodrome) in Hamburg. Together they perform at (alten) Maria am Ostbahnhof or at the WMF (Cafe Moskau, Moonbootica tour) in Berlin.
They have also programmed and marketed video-tools which they launched at the end September '04. Through their work for commercial clients, they finance themselves and keep independent; to practice their skills and experiments they appear in underground clubs. Light is nearly redundant when Videoking presents his live-show for electronic beats.
