Artist Bio
Kris Menace is one of the most respected producers and DJs in electronic music. Like minded musical mavericks such as Felix Da Housecat, Fred Falke, Steve Aoki, Spooky and Alan Braxe have worked with him and he has wide ranging taste maker DJ support from Soulwax, Erol Alkan and Pete Tong through to Mylo, Sasha and Aeroplane.
Menace's debut single, “Discopolis” was released on Vulture Music in 2005. It was one of the biggest selling house tracks of the year and soon became an Ibiza anthem. "Discopolis" was later picked up by Defected Records and re-released with various remixes and a video directed by Seb Janiak (Daft Punk).
Menace later launched the Compuphonic label as a home for his own productions such as “Voyage”, “Fairlight”, “Steamroller” and “Jupiter”. The latter became one of the most downloaded tracks of 2006 on the Electronic Music Download Platform Beatport. He started DJ’ing with his friend Alan Braxe in 2006 and toured around the world.
As a highly in demand remixer, Kris has remixed the likes of Depeche Mode, Robbie Williams, LCD Soundsystem, Royksopp, Underworld, Air, The Presets, Bag Raiders, Metronomy, Moby, Róisín Murphy, Tracey Thorn and others. 2009 saw the release of a ‘Best Of’ 3 CD set entitled “Idiosyncrasies” A triple disc collection of classic tracks interspersed with fresh new productions, collaborations and some of his best remixes.
The future is looking even better for Kris! His recent track “Scaler” has had a huge reaction with everyone from Soulwax, Erol and A-Trak through to Felix Da Housecat, Style Of Eye and Pete Tong championing it and he is currently recording three album projects: The first being a collaboration with KoweSix from Moonbootica under the alias ‘Black Van’ (the debut single will be released on DFA); his second is called “Love on Laserdisc” (debut single out now) and the first Kris Menace album ‘proper’ will follow mid 2010.
